(렉싱턴, 매사추세츠주 2023년 5월 30일 PRNewswire=연합뉴스) 유미코어(Umicore)와 CAMX 파워(CAMX Power LLC, CAMX)는 유미코어가 리튬 이온 배터리, 특히 전기자동차(EV) 용도의 니켈 기반 고에너지, 고전력 양극 활성 물질인 CAM의 GEMX(R) 플랫폼에 따른 비독점적 지적재산 라이센스를 획득했다고 발표했다.
GEMX(R) 플랫폼은 미국, EU, 한국, 일본 및 중국을 포함하여 전 세계적으로 30여 개의 특허를 부여받은 CAMX의 근본적인 발명품을 기반으로 한다. GEMX 발명품은 분자 공학을 통해 양극 입자의 중요한 위치에 코발트, 알루미늄 등을 배치함으로써 고 니켈 소재를 위해 더 큰 안정성, 고성능을 구현하고 저렴한 비용으로 코발트를 덜 사용하도록 한다.

CAMX and Umicore sign non-exclusive IP licensing agreement on NMC battery technology
LEXINGTON, Mass., May 30, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- Umicore and CAMX Power LLC (CAMX) announce that Umicore has obtained a non-exclusive intellectual property license under CAMX's GEMX(R) platform of nickel-based high-energy, high-power cathode active materials for use in lithium-ion batteries, especially for electric vehicles (EVs).
The GEMX(R) platform is based on fundamental inventions of CAMX for which more than 30 patents have been granted globally, including the US, EU, Korea, Japan and China. The GEMX inventions, through molecular engineering, place cobalt, aluminum, etc. at the critical places of the cathode particles resulting in the use of less cobalt, yet with greater stability, higher performance and lower cost for high-nickel materials.
