(툴루즈, 프랑스 2017년 1월 6일 PRNewswire=연합뉴스) 제5회 Fly Your Ideas (이하 FYI 공모전) 공모전에 총 5,499명의 전 세계 참가자들이 몰리면서 역대 FYI 공모전 중 가장 높은 참가율을 기록했다. FYI 공모전은 에어버스가 유네스코(UNESCO)와 공동으로 개최하는 글로벌 학생 공모전이다.

60명의 에어버스 전문가들이 전 세계 89개국 356개 팀이 제출한 아이디어를 검토했으며, 프랑스, 독일, 스페인 및 영국에 소재한 에어버스 본사에서 엄격한 심사가 진행됐다. 내년 1월부터 시작되는 2차 예선전에는 총 50개 팀이 최종 진출했다. (www.airbus-fyi.com/teams 참조)
특히 올해 공모전은 아태지역 학생들의 강세가 돋보였다. 2차 예선에 진출한 50개 팀은 38개 국적을 지닌 202명의 학생으로 구성되어 있으며, 진출팀의 52%가 남녀 학생 모두를 포함하고 있다. 또한, 진출팀 3분의 2가 국적, 전공 분야 등 다양한 배경의 참가자들로 구성돼있으며, 이는 에어버스가 혁신과 성장의 핵심 동력으로 중시하는 다양성 증진에 대한 노력이 반영된 결과다.
2차 예선에 진출한 50개 팀이 구상한 혁신적인 아이디어로는 로봇 수화물 카트, 비행기 외부에서 탑승이 가능한 승객 좌석, 에너지(확보) 신기술, 가상현실 애플리케이션 등이 있다.

각 팀은 100일 이내에 제출한 아이디어를 최종 개발 및 검토해야 한다. 최종 본선에 진출하는 상위 5개 팀은 툴루즈에 소재한 에어버스 본사의 ‘ProtoSpace’에서 1주간 머물게 될 예정으로, 최첨단 장비와 에어버스 임직원의 전문적인 자문을 바탕으로 포로토타입의 제작, 테스트, 시각화를 마무리할 기회가 주어진다. 공모전 시상식은 2017년 5월에 열릴 예정으로 우승팀은 3만 유로, 2위 팀에게는 1만5천 유로의 상금이 주어진다.
2차 예선에 진출한 50개 팀은 1월부터 아이디어 개발에 착수하게 되며, FYI 공모전 공식 홈페이지(http://www.airbus-fyi.com)에 사진, 스케치 자료 등을 게재하면서 프로젝트의 진행 현황을 공유하게 된다.

Airbus Shortlists 50 Teams for Fifth Fly Your Ideas Global Competition

TOULOUSE, France, December 20, 2016/PRNewswire/ -- A record 5,499 students from around the world registered to participate in the fifth edition of Airbus' Fly Your Ideas, the global student challenge organised in partnership with UNESCO.

A group of 60 Airbus experts and innovators assessed the ideas submitted by 356 teams from 89 countries. The rigorous evaluation process took place at four different Airbus locations in France, Germany, Spain and the UK, with 50 student teams [https://www.airbus-fyi.com/teams/ ] selected to reach Round Two of the competition, starting in January 2017.
The competition is led by teams registered in the Asia-Pacific region. The 50 teams comprise 202 students representing 38 different nationalities. With 52% of teams mixing male and female students, two thirds of all teams are diverse in some way, for example with members coming from different countries or studying different subjects. This reflects Airbus' commitment to diversity which it sees as an essential driver for innovation and success.
Innovative ideas from the 50 chosen teams include robotic luggage trolleys, passenger seats which can be boarded outside the aircraft, new solutions for energy harvesting and virtual reality applications.

Each of the teams has 100 days to refine and develop their ideas. The top five teams to make it through to Round Three will spend a week at the "ProtoSpace" based at the Airbus HQ in Toulouse to prototype, test and visualise their ideas using state-of-the art equipment with personalised guidance from Airbus. The winning team will receive a €30,000 prize, the runner up team €15,000, at a live prize giving event in May 2017.
From January 2017, the 50 teams will start developing their ideas and share updates on their progress with photos, sketches and stories posted on http://www.airbus-fyi.com .
