도하, 카타르 2024년 11월 7일 /PRNewswire=연합뉴스/ --이슬람미술관(MIA)은 아틀라스의 화려함: 모로코의 유산을 관통하는 항해를 2025년 3월 8일까지 전시한다. 카타르-모로코 2024 문화의 해의 일환으로 열리는 이 전시회에는 모로코의 역사, 사회, 예술적 표현의 다면적인 이야기와 어떻게 이 것들이 이 나라의 문화를 지금까지 계속 움직이는지를 들려줄 약 200 점의 유물을 공개한다. 개막 리셉션에는 카타르 박물관 및 문화의 해 이니셔티브 의장인 셰이카 알 마야사 빈트 하마드 빈 칼리파 알 타니(Sheikha Al Mayassa Bint Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani)여사와 모로코의 랄라 하스나(Lalla Hasna) 공주가 참석했다.
아틀라스의 화려함에는 카타르에서 한 번도 전시된 적이 없는 국립 박물관 재단과 라바트 국립 도서관을 비롯한 모로코 기관들의 대여품들이 포함되어 있다. 이전에는 카타르 박물관, MIA, 미래의 루사일 박물관 컬렉션에서 볼 수 없었던 작품들도 전시된다. 아틀라스의 화려함은 MIA 큐레이팅 담당 부관장 모우니아 체카브-아부다야(Mounia Chekhab-Abudaya) 박사가 큐레이팅했다.

- "모로코의 영혼: 왕, 성자와 학자들"은 모로코 왕조의 역사를 탐사한다.
- "전통의 실: 모로코의 장인 마스터"는 모로코의 여러 문화 분야 공예의 중추적인 역할을 탐구한다.
- "모로코 전통의 소리"는 안달루시아 지방의 멜로디에서부터 남부의 그나와 음악에 이르기까지 모든 것을 만드는 데 사용되는 악기를 전시한다.
- 마지막 섹션은 현대 모로코 장인 정신에 대한 송가이다. 모로코 아티스트 누르딘 아미르에 의뢰한 작품 7점이 전시되어 있으며, 이 작품들은 전통 공예에 부응하는 동시에 이 갤러리 천장에 매달려 있는 새로운 추상 작품으로 재창조된다.

MUSEUM OF ISLAMIC ART PRESENTS LANDMARK EXHIBITION SURVEYING THE ISLAMIC ARTISTIC TRADITIONS OF MOROCCO
DOHA, Qatar Nov. 7, 2024 /PRNewswire/ --The Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) unveiled Splendours of the Atlas: A Voyage Through Morocco's Heritage, on view until 8 March 2025. Organized as part of the Qatar-Morocco 2024 Year of Culture, the exhibition presents around 200 objects to tell a multifaceted story of Moroccan history, society, artistic expressions, and how they continue to animate the nation's cultures today. The opening reception was attended by Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa Bint Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Chairperson of Qatar Museums and the Years of Culture initiative, and Princess Lalla Hasna of Morocco.
Splendours of the Atlas includes loans from Moroccan institutions including the National Foundation of Museums and the National Library of Rabat that have never before been shown in Qatar. Previously unseen works from the collections of Qatar Museums, MIA, and the future Lusail Museum are also on display. Splendours of the Atlas is curated by Dr. Mounia Chekhab-Abudaya, MIA Deputy Director of Curatorial Affairs.

Splendours of the Atlas is organized thematically:
- "Faces of Morocco: Landscapes and Society" will immerse visitors in a mosaic of photographs by Bruno Barbey, Irving Penn, Lalla Essaydi, Mous Lamrabat, and Mounir Raji.
- "The Soul of Morocco: Kings, Saints, and Scholars" delves into Moroccan dynastic history.
- "Threads of Tradition: Morocco's Artisanal Mastery" explores the pivotal role of crafts in Morocco's many cultures.
- "Traditional Sounds of Morocco" presents musical instruments that are used to create everything from the Andalusian melodies of the cities to the gnawa music of the South.
- The final section is an ode to contemporary Moroccan craftsmanship. If features seven commissioned works by Moroccan artist Noureddine Amir, which respond to traditional crafts while reinventing them as new abstract works that hang from the gallery's ceiling.
