LINYI, China Nov 19, 2024 /AsiaNet=연합뉴스/-- At noon, the Xiaoshan Canteen at the Zhengshan Community Elderly Care Service Center in Linshu County is bustling with seniors enjoying their lunch. The canteen, with its spacious and bright interior, clean tables and a balanced, nutritious menu, provides a delightful dining experience. Mr. Wang, eighty-three years old, comes here daily, saying, "It's convenient to eat here, and it's free. When I get bored, I go to the multifunctional recreation room to have fun. It's far more engaging than just staying at home."

"Our center is committed to inclusivity and public welfare, providing free meals three times a day for all community residents aged 80 and above. Additionally, we have integrated entertainment, medical care, and rehabilitation areas, transforming the lives of the elderly from struggling with meals to enjoying quality dining, and from solitary living to a vibrant community," says Chen Dexiang, Director of the Elderly Care Service Center. The center delivers a comprehensive five core services for seniors: meal services, recreational activities, medical care, rehabilitation, and in-home support. The medical care area offers basic check-ups, physical therapy, and acupuncture, while the rehabilitation area is equipped with professional equipment and staff to provide long-term care for seniors with chronic conditions or disabilities. Additionally, home-based services such as meal delivery and cleaning are available for the elderly who live alone or have limited mobility.

The smooth operation of the Zhengshan Community Elderly Care Service Center is a testament to collaborative efforts. The local government has issued policies to strengthen support for elderly care, subsidizing 30% of the center's operating costs. Villages contribute 8 yuan per senior per day, and the Linshu County Supply and Marketing Cooperative (Shandong Linfa Supply and Marketing Group) ensures meal quality. A community advisory committee monitors service quality daily, with the center providing weekly operational updates and feedback to the community. Moving forward, the center aims to continuously improve and refine its services, and enhance the seniors' sense of fulfillment, happiness, and security. This model enables seniors to shift from merely "aging" to truly "enjoying life" in their own neighborhood.
