RUSHAN, China Feb 12, 2025 /AsiaNet=YONHAP/-- Recently, the villagers of Baishatan Village in Rushan city, Weihai city, Shandong province turned their neighborhood into a grand stage, putting on a self-produced, self-directed, and self-performed "Village Gala" with festive cheer to celebrate the Year of the Snake.

The gala featured an impressive lineup of performances, including traditional drumming, waist drum dances, and fan dances, each showcasing the villagers' creativity and deep cultural roots. Pan Shuying, 59, a beloved artistic enthusiast in the village, took part in multiple performances. Though juggling multiple roles required extra time and effort for learning and rehearsal, she embraced it wholeheartedly. She found deep fulfillment in bringing joy and blessings to her fellow villagers during the festive Spring Festival celebrations.

Among the standout performers at the gala was 17-year-old Sun Mingtong, who captivated the audience with a solo rendition of "Rong Hua" (Velvet Flower). Despite her youth, she delivered the song with impressive poise and emotion. "I chose this song because I connect deeply with its lyrics, which symbolize resilience, beauty, and admiration for heroes. As a high school student, I want to embody that same spirit -- studying diligently and facing challenges with courage," she said.

With passionate performances and an electrifying atmosphere, the "Village Gala" captivated the audience, immersing them in a celebration of rural heritage and togetherness. More than just a festive gathering, it served as a microcosm and testament to the village's development and revitalization. In recent years, Baishatan Village has actively promoted the growth of local enterprises, improving the residents' livelihood, fostering a rich cultural life and strengthening community bonds.
