(SUZHOU, China, Nov. 30, 2017 PRNewswire=연합뉴스) Jun Woo Kim is from Seoul in South Korea and is in Year 2 studying a BSc in Information and Computing Science at Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University [http://www.xjtlu.edu.cn/en/ ] in Suzhou, China.
As an international student ambassador at XJTLU, Jun Woo will welcome visitors to XJTLU, conduct campus tours, speak to students at schools in China and attend international recruitment fairs and share his own experiences to encourage others to study at XJTLU.
When he met with enrolled students in Seoul, he was asked many questions: "Parents with daughters and female students often ask about safety. I tell those considering studying at XJTLU in Suzhou that it is really safe here," said Jun Woo.
"The most memorable part of the role so far was meeting the incoming students because I knew they had many questions that I could answer. After that, I think they felt more comfortable to come to China."
After completing high school in the USA and compulsory military service in South Korea, Jun Woo wanted something different. He found XJTLU as he researched universities that offered English taught teaching. All courses at XJTLU are taught in English, and students can supplement their required course modules with Chinese language classes.
"In considering XJTLU, I also thought it would be a good opportunity for me to learn Chinese," he said. "I was also attracted to the environment, the weather and being close to Shanghai means that South Korea is nearby and I can easily go home."
Describing his experience of studying abroad, Jun Woo said: "The XJTLU Global office really takes care of international students and we can easily get help."
Jun Woo aims to use his creativity in the future: "China is developing fast and I hope to be part of that and find a job here in User Interface design," he concluded.
